Information

The race begins on the shore of the Seven Cities lagoon, one of Portugal's seven natural wonders. Another highlight of the event is the passage through the “Água de Pau” mountain range in the volcanic complex classified as a regional nature reserve. The highest altitude is Pico da Barrosa, with a maximum height of 974m, where runners can enjoy amazing views of Lagoa do Fogo. The finish line is at Furnas near the lagoon, the perfect place to get acquainted with the abundant volcanic hot springs that heat the ground, where holes are dug to cook the famous and typical stew dish. The race contemplates the paths of this geothermal phenomenon.
